VINYL ESTER 411-350PA QT KIT

$76.25/Kit
Part# 01-01109

Overview

**Note: 3 month shelf life**

Derakane Momentum 411-350 epoxy vinyl ester resin is based on bisphenol-A epoxy resin and provides resistance to a wide range of acids, alkalis, bleaches, and organic compounds for use in many chemical processing industry applications. Derakane Momentum resins are a new generation of resins that can be used to improve fabrication efficiency and product quality. Their lighter color makes defects easier to see and correct while the resin is still workable. The resin's improved reactivity properties often permit and increase in the lay-up thickness per session. The longer stability provides additional flexibility to fabricators in storage and handling. Resin: Color may vary by manufacturer.

Warning: MEKP Catalyst is very dangerous to the eyes. Always wear full goggle protection and have running water at hand when working with MEKP.

Reviews

The Derakane Vinyl Ester resin works great on the layups for my Glasair. This is an improved version of the same resin originally supplied with the Glasair kits. The Derakane 411 is already promoted, so just need to add the MEKP catalyst. I use two drops of MEKP per 6 grams of resin.

Durakane vinyl ester resin is still one of he most user friendly and versatile resins for aircraft construction. Good temperature and fuel resistance, and its low viscosity penetrates well during lamination. Used extensively in the Glasair and other aircraft lines, it can be mixed with a number of additives for use in different areas of construction. Advertised shelf life is 3 months, but in a cool climate controlled shop, six months is possible. AS&S deliveries fresh vinyl ester resin well packaged, with quick delivery. I transfer it to a gallon glass jug, and use a screw in pump that delivers about 25 mg at a pump. Works great.

Vinyl ester epoxy modified resin is the best of both worlds for laminating tanks for gasoline, acid...virtually any liquid. you work it like polyester, a resin rich layup. Only use epoxy for wood. Aircraft Spruce has an excellent price (but dont tell them that)

Q: Is your vinyl ester resin been promoted with cobalt naphalate and if so, to what percentage? (Part Number: 01-01076, Derakane 411-350). The Ashland Data sheet specifies Cobalt anything from 0.05 phr to 0.30 phr. The ratio is critical to cure. I have used some and I have an undercure condition indicating it may not have been promoted.

It is medium promoted with cobalt at 6%, or .262 ounces per gallon.

Q: Can you clarify if your catalyst chart is by weight or volume? (Ounces vs Fluid Ounces)

Part # 01-01110 is 1 fluid ounce.
