Very well made and Teflon lined so the operation is very smooth. A very large-diameter wire so it does not necessarily fit where the old one came out, but easy modification made it work perfectly.

Because of limited space between the firewall and the carburetor mixture control I had to go with this cable. The usual swivel 2-piece end from the regular vernier control was too long and didnt have enough space in front of the firewall to mount the adel clamp! This control works in that tight situation. Just silver brazed the wire end into a drilled out SS 10-32 screw section. One warning, because of the stiffness of the solid wire and wound spring sheath the bend radii have to be large!

Q: Are these cables FAA-PMA'd?

No, the cables on this web page are not approved. We do carry one that is approved by the same manufacturer. The part number is A-790-12, and it is approved for some Cessnas.

Q: What is the outside diameter of casing of the A-790 vernier control? In order to use cable safe products.

The outside diameter of the casing is 1/4".

Q: What is the panel mount hole size diameter for the ACS A-790 vernier control?

The panel hole size should be 3/4" in diameter.

Q: What is the diameter of the plastic knob, specified either between the tactile ribs or the complete OD including the tactile ribs?

1.4063" complete OD including tactile ribs.

Q: Is there a physical difference between the approved and non-approved version?

No, there is not.

1/4" OD.

Q: Can the sheath and cable be trimmed down in length if the old model falls between selectable sizes?

Yes, they can be.

Q: Can the A-790 VERNIER CONTROL solid inner cable be removed from the outer casing so that the casing can be cut, or must the casing be cut with the inner cable in place?

Yes. It can be pulled out completely. There is a small ball bearing that will fall out when you do, make sure not to lose that part.

Q: Is this A-790 control FAA Approved for certified aircraft?

No, this is not FAA Approved. Only the A-790-12 is approved. Please search for that part number on our website for the FAA Approved unit. On that page, it will list applicable models.
