Works great. I had zero need for a vise held the filter in one hand and turned the cutter with the other. Taking small bites with the cutter wheel yields stellar results. Highly recommend.

Cuts the filter cans easily, is well made and one of the nicest features is that if you put a piece of tape over the hole in the bottom of the tool base it contains any residual oil from the filter after cutting it open so it doesnt make a frigging mess everytime you use it.

I have tried less expensive cutters, this one is by far the best.

This works great. I dont have a vice in my hangar, so I put a large 1 wrench on the filter, lay it on the floor with the filter facing up, and hold the wrench in place with my knee. Then you just spin the tool around the filter, tightening it a bit each time around. After 3 or 4 times around, its cut all the way through.

The instructions say to use a vise to hold the filter in place while you rotate the filter cutter. As I dont have a vise, I simply held the filter in one hand and adjusted the filter cutter and turned it with the other hand. That technique worked just fine the cutting blade is sharp enough to not provide much resistance. Its a well made product that does its job well.

I used the oil filter cutter and it worked very well. My reason for not giving a 5 star rating, it would have been nice if it had storage case. Mark Hogan Pilot/A&P
