Overview

Aeroshell W100 is an ashless, SAE 50 dispersant oil that provides excellent service in all four cycle aircraft piston engines.

We understand your desire for low-cost, dependable flight. You can rely on AeroShell products to help protect your engine, reduce its maintenance costs and improve its efficiency. Whether you fly for pleasure or your business depends on flight, AeroShell products are designed to help lift your performance.

Single Grade Ashless Dispersant Oils

AeroShell Oils W80, W100 and W120 are ashless dispersant oils specifically developed for aviation piston engines. They combine non-metallic additives with selected high viscosity index base oils to give exceptional stability, dispersancy and anti-foaming performance. No general rule exists for every engine type when choosing the correct grade of oil; however, based on the average ambient outside temperature at engine start-up the most common grades are SAE 40, SAE 50 and SAE 60, which equates to AeroShell Oil W80, W100 and W120 respectively.

Traditionally, the choice is associated with climatic zones - AeroShell W80 for cold climate regions (-17 - 21°C), AeroShell Oil W100 for temperate regions (15 - 30°C) and AeroShell Oil W120 for warmer climates (above 26°C).

AeroShell Oils W80, W100 and W120 are produced to meet fully the SAE specification J-1899 (Grades SAE 30, 40, 50 and 60 respectively). Furthermore, they all have military qualification approval and are listed on the Qualified Products List (QPL) issued by the US Navy and on the Technically Acceptable Products List (TAPL) issued by the UK Ministry of Defence. The blending plants employed to manufacture these oils also hold the approval of the specification authorities and this ensures that the high quality standard is always maintained.

Features

  • Promotes Engine Cleanness. The non-ash forming, polymeric additive was developed to help eliminate the harmful combustion chamber deposits that occur during normal operation.
  • High Viscosity Index Base Oils used in AeroShell W oils maintain their viscosity and help protect engine components more effectively under the high shear stresses that an engine places on lubricants.
  • Provides Compatibility with other approved aircraft piston engine oils. Since AeroShell Oils W80, W100 and W120 are fully approved to SAE J-1899 and are listed on the relevant Qualified Products List (QPL), elaborate precautions are not needed when changing from similarly approved aircraft engine oils, as long as these oils are qualified products.
  • AeroShell W Oils are inherently stable in storage. Providing that they have been stored and handled correctly, prolonged storage does not have any effect on their quality, properties or performance.

Q: How long is the shelf life of Aeroshell oil W100 SAE 50?

Per the supplier: it has a 4 year shelf life.

Q: Is there information I should be aware of regarding the color of the container? Aeroshell 100w ashless dispersant was black now it is red.

No. It was purely a marketing change. The material is exactly the same as before the bottle and case packaging was changed.

Q: How much does a quart of Aeroshell oil weigh?

A quart of oil weighs approximately 2 lbs.

Q: What is the difference between the Aeroshell 100 and the 100W...and the 100 Plus?

Aeroshell 100 Mineral oil/Break in oil
Aeroshell W100 Regular SAE50 oil
Aeroshell W100 Plus Regular SAE50 oil with a rust/corrosion protection additive

Q: Aeroshell 100 is mineral oil. What is Aeroshell W 100?

It is ashless dispersant oil. Mineral is break in oil, ashless dispersant oil is what you would use after the break in period.

Q: What is the weight of 1 case (12 pcs) including the box? Thanks

Each case of oil weighs approximately 25 lbs.

Q: May I have complete W100 with W100 plus (Top-off)?

Unfortunately we do not have any data showing these two being mixed. We recommend contacting the engine manufacture or A&P mechanic for clarification.

Q: Is this the oil same as the W100 we typically buy in the US in red quarts?

Yes, this is the same oil as is sold in the smaller quart size. This is just the large container version.
