These are not your normal bulb type lights. Very well made. You need to use a little or force to push in place and twist. Feels unnatural but they wont jam, just a nice tight fit. Replaced both left and right with no regret paying the cost. PA38-112. N38PR

Purchased both the red and green Led position lamps and found them to be of very good quality. The machine work is first class, the fit as replacements for A7512 bulbs is perfect, light intensity is excellent, and current draw is minimal.

Simple drop in replacement on 14V system. I installed with clear lenses and they are very bright! Hope they last as long as one would think for LED’s! Time will tell

Nice, bright, low amperage light. I needed to obtain a clear cover to ensure its full brightness was available. The S35 Bonanza has colored lenses that limited the output.

These lights are fantastic! They are machined from aluminum and they are the brightest NAV lights I have ever seen. I tried some of the cheaper LED NAV lights from Spruce in both of my airplanes and they put out so much RF noise that they break the squelch on the radios. These Whelen Chroma bulbs didnt do that at all. Nice job Whelen!

Direct replacement for our Cherokee 180. Like the other reviews, I wish we could get them quicker, I’m still waiting to receive the green one.

Installed these on a citabria without wingtip strobes, and cant imagine them being any brighter! On the first day of use, someone in the pattern radioed and said man I can sure see those navs you got Definitely is an improvement in safety over the original, and theyre cool to the touch versus the old. There is a peace of mind knowing the plane is much more visible now.

These LED bulbs appear to be very well made with a large heat sink. The light admitted is much brighter than an incandescent bulb. Their quality seems higher than other LED bulbs I have tried as you would expect for the cost. Having just installed them, I can’t comment on their longevity. I will buy more for the other aircraft I own after some time to prove service life.

I have tested a lot of LED NAV lights in the last couple years - power, flux, RF interference, transients, reliability, heat, etc. What took them so long?? What an incredible design! The 500 lb. Whelen gorilla in the room came through like they always do. I have tested them throughly. Once the unit hit its peak operating temperature, the current draw was only 140mA @28V. After 10 minutes of operation, the support aluminum pedestal was slightly warm on some portions, hotter on others due to an extensive and well designed heat sink - temperatures that are nowhere near the high operating temperatures as the incandescent bulbs they are replacing. Incredibly bright in all directions and the wavelength is almost perfect to what FAA would measure (about 640nm - orange-red, differ from the 670nm from other LED vendors). The addition of the plastic diffuser to meet the FAA for solid angle distribution specification is simply brilliant. These units are solid, machined aluminum, almost to the point of being overbuilt. The switching voltage regulation has very little RF noise, well below the squelch of any aviation radio. The o-ring seal is a nice idea, but not sure its necessary but it sure does make for a secure fit. In most airplanes, these lamps will be worth more than the socket its plugged into. Reliability is still in question. Nice Job and worth the expense!

When the Whelen LED landing and taxi lights came out years ago I installed them on my plane. I have been so pleased with the quality of their products I have since installed these Chroma bulbs and they too have the high quality which the Whelen name represents. I am impressed by the engineering and manufacturing of these parts.

Absolutely excellent! Sturdy, very bright and negligent load on electrical system. Only issue is it needs that PMA asap!

Very good build quality, looks and feels very sturdy. Light output is incredible! At least 1.5 times brighter if not more than the standard filaments, and ammeter hardly moves when switching on Nav lights now. Excellent. Will see how long it last, as I have only just installed them.

This is a remarkable product improvement for aviation. Not only is it simple to install, but it greatly enhances flight safety. The lights are extremely bright compared to incandescent, and are visible in daylight as well as dark. The reduced current draw makes it possible to use them during all phases of flight. This is a win for all involved.

These are GREAT units if you dont want to spend money on automotive bulbs nor the 1AMU+ on all-in-one units. They take seconds to swap and the color is more vivid and uniform. They are a definite upgrade!

These are high quality replacements for standard bulbs in most of the common Whelen position lights. Direct replacement and way brighter with negligible electrical load. I’ll join the Airlines and leave them on!!

I love them so far, but tell WHELEN that an expedited PMA or STC is needed. Please call them and / or write them with the feedback request.

Took a while to get them due to Whelen being backlogged on the orders but the quality and brightness is A+. A direct fit and much better than the competition.

The profile of the LED bulb is broader at the shoulder than that of the incandescent, and the location of the lateral pins is also different - a bit higher up the body. Thus, the port bulb was anything but a drop in replacement - required about 2 hours of work removing wingtip, adjusting the screw-in portion of the socket, and replacing several times. Plus, the shoulder of the LED - which BTW is quite different from what is illustrated in the catalog - hits the lens unless the bulb is retracted several mm. Finally, the Red bulb had 6 primary LEDs, while the Green has only 4. Bizarre - and the Red is considerably brighter than the Green. That said, the Green was a drop in replacement - go figure. Will add info on any radio interference when/if occurs.

Extremely bright even behind the existing green lens. Added this since I went to SkyBeacon and have to leave NAV lights on all the time and I only have 20 amp generator. Would give it 5 stars were it not so pricey$$$ but I dont regret it even at that price.

This was the first thing I ordered for the aircraft. Fast forward to two years later. My red position light quit working. An email to Whelen requesting what the warranty is and got an email back from them in less than 30 minutes asking for my address as they have a five year warranty. Im not real happy with the longevity of the product, but they did honor the warranty with no questions.
