Part# 11-10001
MFR Model# 010-01014-03

Designed exclusively for installation with Garmin’s G3X™ electronic flight display system in light sport and experimental/kitbuilt aircraft, the GTX 23 is an affordable, full-featured remote digital transponder for Mode S traffic surveillance.

Get Next Generation ADS-B Technology

With Extended Squitter technology, the GTX 23 provides an affordable pathway to ADS-B compliance for the FAA’s proposed Next Generation airspace system. When coupled with an approved position source – like our GTN series avionics – the extended squitter technology in the GTX 23 allows you to automatically transmit more accurate and useful traffic surveillance data – including aircraft flight ID, position, altitude, velocity, climb/descent, and heading information.

Monitor Traffic with TIS

With support for Traffic Information Services (TIS) alerts, the GTX 23 allows you to see the same traffic information your ATC controller is watching. TIS is a ground-based service that provides the relative location of all transponder-equipped aircraft in your airspace. This information is then displayed graphically on your G3X display or on an integrated Garmin GPS/Nav/Comm system.

Enjoy Seamless Integration

In addition to TIS traffic datalink capability, the GTX 23 features 250 W of power output, auto standby and easy entry of squawk codes using the controls on your G3X cockpit displays. Plus the fact that it’s remotely mounted means you save valuable real estate in your panel. Better still, because it’s an all solid-state design, the unit offers low power consumption and heat emissions, which ultimately translate into superior reliability and extra-long service life.

Q: Is there a significant difference between the GTX 23 and the GTX 23 ES? My reading seems to suggest that the GTX 23 also has Extended Squitter, so the GTX 23 ES is just a name change. Is this the case?

The GTX 23 only comes in an ES version. Any literature referring to the GTX 23 is actually the GTX 23 ES.

Q: Which antenna is used with the GTX23ES?

Any transponder antenna will do, for example part # 11-17995.

Q: Will the GARMIN ALTITUDE ENCODER FOR GTX 335/345 (Part # 11-14162) work with the GTX 23?

No, the Garmin altitude encoder is only intended for use in the GTX 335/345 transponders.

Q: Is the GDL 82 comparable with the GTX 23ES and is it an approved position source?

The GTX 23ES is an ADS-B out transponder for experimental aircraft only. The GDL 82 is a certified unit for both applications.

Q: What parts are supplied for 11-10001 GARMIN GTX 23 ES VERSION REMOTE XPDR FOR G3X? For example, are the remote rack 115-00629-00 and associated back plate assembly parts included? What part should be ordered for the CONNECTOR KIT 011-01012-01? THANKS!

You will get the transponder and the installation kit, which includes the connector kit, backplate and rack.

Q: Is a GTN required for this transponder?

This transponder only requires a compatible display, it does not have to be a GTN.

Q: When coupled with a G3X Touch, and GTR20 is this unit fully ADS-B compliant for position, or is another position source required? For example a particular GPS source

his unit will require a WAAS GPS source in order to create the ADS-B out signal.

Q: Can I use the GPS20A as a WAAS GPS Source for the GTX23ES?

Per Garmin: "The GPS 20A is also capable of giving the GPS WAAS information to the GTX 23ES."
