ViVidia AbleScope VA-800 USB Flexible Inspection Camera Borescope Videoscope with 180° Articulating 8.5mm Diameter Probe. High quality video, ideal for detailed visual inspection in hard-to-reach places with 180° articulation and 8.5mm diameter probe camera. Suitable for airplane and auto engine repair and maintenance. Connecting this borescope to your computer or tablet (optional, sold separately, click for details) via USB port allows you to perform detailed visual inspection in hard-to-reach areas. With the use of OTG cable (included in the package), this USB borescope can also be connected to an Android Smart Phones (such as Samsung). AbleScope.apk is a special APP to users who want to connect the USB Microscope and USB Borescope to the Android Smart Phones without rooting. 180 degree articulating 8.5mm diameter probe offers a panoramic view of the area being inspected. With 0.3M pixels CMOS sensor, and six built-in LEDs for illumination, this product allows you to view images, take standard photos, and record videos. This borescope is designed for the inspection of the carbon residue inside of cylinder especially the surface of the intake valve. It is perfect for 'looking backside' after the scope goes into a narrow space. |

Addendum: You dont have to buy the airbox to get the borescope to work on a MacBook Air it plugs and plays through the USB port. Airbox is required for the iPad or iPhone
Functionality is 5 stars after you get the App downloaded and running on your Mac. The manual is cryptic at best and is worthless doing the install. Getting the App icon on the launchpad page is another exercise in futility. I had to call customer service to get the setup finished. Once installed, however, it works as advertised. Maybe its easier to setup on a Windows machine, not sure.?
2nd one. Used the first with the AirBox app for Apple. Plugged it into my plane charger for Apple stuff and burned it out. Will try to suffer thru using an old PC. First tests at home were good. The sturdiness of the camera and changing the rubber protector is very sensitive
I marked it as a 4 because I have not used it in the work environment. Easy down load took all of 5 minutes. Worked great at home, great resolution of images, cant wait to get in a real work environment. It may be a little delicate so Im going to be very careful using it.
It works OK if you have Wifi in your hangar.. if no wifi or hotspot with your phone it is useless.
I have been an aircraft mechanic for the past 30 Years. I have used many types of borescopes. This one is OK for the price. The dim-bright light option is nice to option. However, just didnt have what I was looking for a way to adjust the focus once the objective is found. Pulling in or out to adjust the view in a tight space is not something I want.
Disappointing. If I could have a do over, I would purchase the semirigid scope. When using the full length, gravity takes over and just lays there. there is no way to rise it in a restricted area like a leading edge. It is that flexible. Very hard to use fully extended.

VA-800 has more flexible cable than VA-980. There is some rigidity for VA-800 cable, but not as rigid as those of VA-980.
One year for manufacture defects except for the articulating bending parts, those are 90 days.
