Tempest AA48109 Spin-EZ Oil Filter.

What’s Tempest’s recommendation for dealing with stuck oil filters? At your next filter change - UPGRADE to Tempest’s patent-pending “non-sticking” SPIN EZ™ aircraft engine oil filters.

Tempest’s SPIN EZ filters are designed to come off easy. Heat, time and pressure can extrude oil, grease, DC4® compound or similar liquid lubricants from between a filter’s rubber seal and the filter mount pad - leaving the filter seemingly “bonded” to the engine’s mount pad - and making it nearly impossible to remove. Tempest’s proprietary SPIN EZ adhered solid seal lubricant stays where it’s supposed to - between the seal and the mount pad’s surface. SPIN EZ solid lubricant won’t extrude or squirt out from under the seal. It prevents the bond forming environment that makes legacy filters stick.

Unfortunately, due to supply chain disruptions, Tempest is no longer able to procure this proprietary magnet and that feature will no longer be available. Q: Re oil filters: Is the Tempest aa48109 the same size/fitment as the Champion ch48109? Any significant differences other than the Tempest having a magnet?

They are both FAA approved filters, and are used in the same applications. The Champion unit measures approx. 5.73" tall, and 3.71" diameter, and the Tempest measures approx. 6-3/16" tall, and 3.75" diameter, and also has a magnet and new Spin-Ez seal.

Q: What is the difference between tempest 48109 and 48108?

The AA48109 has overall dimensions of 6-3/16" Height x 3-3/4" Diameter. The AA48108 has overall dimensions of 4-3/8" Height x 3-3/4" Diameter. Both have 3/4-16 female thread. The AA4109 will be a taller filter than the AA48108.

Q: Does the Tempest AA48109 have a by pass valve in it?

All Tempest filters have the bypass valve.

Q: What is the difference between AA48110-2 and AA48109?

The AA48109 is longer and has female threads. The AA48110 has male threads and is shorter.

Q: Is there an expiration date for the oil filter?

Usage within 5 years is recommended per the manufacturer.
