Model RT A400 - Halon 1211-1301 Blend Typical use: Cockpit/Cabin. The gaugeless RT A400 is the smallest Halon fire extinguisher available anywhere. It's a great flight bag accessory. These extinguishers contain a unique blend of liquefied gas 1211/1301, two highly effective fire fighting agents. These units are self expelling which means that the pressure remains constant even when the extinguishers are almost empty. |

Great peace of mind. Tight spaces in the Mooney cockpit prevented permanent mounting, I keep it next to me in my flight bag.

The perfect size for my light sport aircraft.

Attached the bracket on my rear seat frame within easy reach of left seat on 172N. Will watch it for potential loss of halon over time, as I have read other reviews on that subject.

HALON FIRE EXTINGUISHER 14OZ + WITH MOUNTING BRACKET
Havent had to use it, thank God, but meets my expectations. Light, small and compact. The wall mounting bracket works on the side of my flight bag via MOLLE connections. Expensive, but how does one put a price on fire-safety in flight? Overall, totally satisfied with the purchase.

Shipped promptly and received in excellent condition. I fit-checked the unit to my airplane and its just as expected. Will install soon. I also read the instructions and will weigh the core unit annually to make sure its fully charged. Very good product for small airplanes from the limited experience I have with it. Lets hope I never have to use it.
Nice a little pricey but its perfect size for the plane
My RT A400 is holding up as advertised...I bought it in 2012 and after 7 years, it still weighs the same original 1.2 lbs. and no signs of leaks.
Saved my plane from burning to the ground when battery wires contacted each other and caught fire. Well worth the money!

The A400 is a sealed unit and cannot be re-charged.
YES! It can lay on its side. However, it must be positioned upright when in use, and not in a horizontal position.
Per the manufacturer: The standard Warranty for all our RT-A extinguishers is two years from receipt date for workmanship & quality.
The answer unfortunately is no, not permitted by NFPA for non-rechargeable extinguishers. The big advantage of them is that they are not subject to the 6-year teardown maintenance and hydro test required for rechargeable extinguishers resulting in huge savings!! After 12 years, they must be replaced by a new unit with the old one sent to a service Center or to the manufacturer for halon recycling.
No, this does not include the 8130-3 form. It can be requested at the time of checkout in the shopping cart.
Yes, this is considered dangerous goods for air transport (UN1044).
Per the manufacturer, you would weigh this unit 2-3 times a year to see if the weight remains about the same. It is normal for all liquefied gas extinguishers(Gage or not), to lose 4-6 grams per year. Inspect monthly or more often. Ensure nozzle is not obstructed and safety seal is intact. To be installed, inspected and maintained in accordance with NFPA 10. Return to the manufacturer after any use or if gross weight is below:- 500 grams (17.6 oz) for Model RT-A400
